Meh on Devil Wants To Hug
Going to be brutally honest. The story is good and intriguing up to the point where the furnace blows up.
Then it becomes a weird mishmash of side characters and pastels and overly sugared scenes that would make a small child cry. The story begins to unnecessarily drag on and being sidetracked all the time, chapters are missing or repeated, even the content itself often feels a repetition. In so many words, it just stops making sense and I felt myself ready to punch some of those characters as they were more fan service than actual story progression... it was no longer a joy to read, but a chore and the lack of lore drowned the passion to keep reading and find out more.
Yes, there are some parts that are still good as they tie to the original plot and it is worth looking for them, but amidst all the straw, it's definitely a small needle in the haystack, finding myself skipping a LOT of so-called content like Ghost Uncle's existential crisis in the form of his weird obsession or the fire bird's lack of insight.
If you want to muddle through the chapters after the Big Bang, know that much changes like names and character positions; MCs become backseat drivers and side characters take over a good chunk. Chapters are cut in half or repeat themselves countless times, including its content. Much of the story is missing, but it doesn't matter because they don't fill much as you'll notice as you try to progress. Everything is basically sugar and spices. The whole thing could have been wrapped up in less chapters, not gonna lie.
TL;DR: It's really good up to the Furnace going kablooie. Then it just slowly declines. MCs go MIA most of the time and when they appear, it's overly sugared. Side characters galore. Story goes from Triple A to WattPad fanfiction in just two chapters. Then it somehow finds its way back to the original plot. Read at your own discretion.
