I didn’t come in hoping for much, just something to read while in bed or while I have free time, though I was pleasantly surprised. While the story wasn’t complicated and I (mostly) mindlessly read for something to do, I became entrapped by the strange charm this story held. I’m going to try and keep my review somewhat spoiler free as I tell you about the wonder that was this webtoon (or manwha, manhua, etc etc. I’m not good with words so please excuse me lol). I’ll be going over 2 main points: the characters and story.
Characters. The two main characters (Min and Sijun) are great, having depth to them but not making them too complicated for the reader. They don’t have 500 plot lines for the reader to see throughout the story of their lives and keeps only the important details in. The side characters, however, I felt were a bit lacking. While I understood why, I felt that some of them lacked that depth the main characters had, and they didn’t feel like they were in the mc's lives a whole lot (will get into on the story section). I also want to mention that a few of the consequen seemed.. forced and/or weird, such as Mr. Shin. I understood WHY he showed up but I wish the story (and characters around him) gave him for repercussions for his actions.
Story. I thought the story overall was great. It was wholesome and, though I didn’t think much when reading, I didn’t have any questions at the end. I only had a few things that I wish were further shown or explored. The relationships of the characters. Throughout the story we meet these wonderful side characters that are suddenly dropped when they aren’t needed. When going to school, especially if you’re in the same classes, I’d expect to see more interaction between the main characters and the side characters, even if it was just to add some humor! A great example of this is the second male lead. (1/2)
I'm writing a spoiler for those people who impatiently waiting like me for the manga to finish.
The FL gets an oracle from her auntie, she was possessed by a goddess who tells the FL about her past and says that you will have bad luck with first love, and will be heartbroken, aside from this going to change people's lives. The Oracle does come true in the future when the FL is hypnotized (brainwashed) into falling in love with the villain this is a bit of my suspicion that the villain is an immortal who lived for centuries.
For those who are curious about Walter... the villain brainwashes him to bring the FL closer but due to the FL's smartness, the work was done half, the villain killed Walter... the FL was in a bad state where the father and the brother realized that FL needs someone whom she can be in love with because not every time the family can give that emotional support so they indirectly let ML persuade the FL before I forget the father and the son both hated the ML and never like when FL even talked to the prince.
After that Oracle, she wants to live with her father forever but after the death of Walter, they realize that FL needs someone.
After solving more crime cases FL was hypnotized by the villain she obeyed him, but was saved by ML and they defeated the villain before I forget... was an incident where they believed that the villain was dead, was the doctor she met in childhood but turns out that the original doctor was missing and this was a white wizard who could make an artificial body for himself, so once she defeats him she makes her career, her Butler had advised around her age coming and she makes a subject for police so they can have a better analysis.
