It's bad, just bad and weird-
It started of as a cute manga then just got weird?
Ngl it was weird from the start...

Rocks on Lost in the Cloud

Mental illness: as it turns out, not a fun time. Like, at all. Quite the opposite, actually. And it's hard to depict in fiction. You have to make something abnormal relatable to the reader. Something extremely personal, like pain. And copying mechanisms. You gotta make that understandable to a whole diverse group of people.
You know the famous quote, "All happy families are alike, but the unhappy ones are each unhappy in their own special way"? Yeah, unhappyness is a bi*** to portray. It's easy to fall into overdramatization, or worse, trite clichès running on pity. Not here, tho. The details of this characterization make it g****** photorealistic. I can see them, every little knot, every little spiral of fear, and despair, grounded and intimate. Everything is so very real and human. This level of detail impacts the pacing, which is not slow, but just as painstakingly reflective of how people really react to eachother.
And I'll be honest. Having maybe one of the best if not THE best art department among shonen ais, which usually sacrifice the art style since no s** or bodies are shown, does in fact help. There are some panels where the shading work is downright inspired. The use of color is breathtaking. The symbolism with the way light and blood play with the shapes... Like, it's g****** amazing okay? FORREAL. Color me fuc**** impressed.
This is a character study about how people react to trauma. How they adapt to pain. And how they grow up with it, getting warped in time. It is full of veracity, and gives no sh*** about the usual tropes. So beware: it pulls no punches. Sh**'s fuc***, and you could get triggered by it.
Not gonna describe the cast. It would be considered spoilers in this case. Go blind. He**, why do I even bother? It's not like you are literate anyway, look at the nice pics and smile. The red stuff is ketchup I swear, Cirrus just doesn't like to clean his mouth.
A GAI (Grand Acolade of Ivern™️) is in order.
